CONFIRMATION
Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds. (CCC 1316)
Formation
Children
Parents seeking to register a child in the religious education and sacramental preparation program at a parish should themselves be registered parishioners who actively practice their Catholic faith. In the first year of enrollment, parents will need to bring a copy of the child’s baptismal certificate showing the church and city of the baptism.
Because children have reached an age of reason and maturity that enables them to understand the significance of the sacraments they are preparing to receive, the parish requires two consecutive years of catechesis in preparation of receiving Confirmation.
Adults
Adults seeking to receive Confirmation (and any previous sacraments such as Baptism or First Communion) can ask to join the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults, which begins in September each year and generally culminates in the reception of the sacraments at the Easter Vigil.
