Rite of Christian Initiation for Children

RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children):
Is the preparation program where children in grades 1st – 11th who have not been baptized are prepared to celebrate the Sacraments of initiation, theses sacraments are Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. Students must successfully complete two consecutive years of Religious Education. Students will attend Saturday classes in their first year. In the second year students are required to attend their regular religious educations classes on Saturday’s and also attend RCIC classes on Sunday’s from 10:30a.m. Until 12:00p.m.

Sponsors:
during the process of preparation for the sacraments of initiation.
Please, do not miss any of the required activities and meetings.
and have already received the sacraments of Baptism, Confession,
Communion and Confirmation. Sponsors must also be willing to
make a difference in the child’s personal and spiritual life.

Who is a practicing Catholic? One who attends Mass regularly, receives Communion frequently, confesses when necessary, and lives in accord with the teachings of the Church is considered a practicing Catholic. Those who are married are married in the Church.

RCIC on Sunday: classes meet on Sunday mornings, at 10:30a.m. In Ryan Hall (Classes are on Sundays until April)

RCIC PARENT SACRAMENTAL MEETINGS: During the second year parents are required to attend sacramental meetings on Sundays.

RECEPTION OF SACRAMENTS: Holy Saturday at the Easter Vigil.

REGISTRATION: Registration for RCIC take place simultaneously
 with enrollment in the Religious Education program from May until
August. Upon registration please submit your child’s birth certificate.
Parents or legal guardians must register in person.
